Supporting Flying Doctors in South Africa

Prometheus Medical Africa recently played a small part in supporting the use of medical rescue helicopters in KwaZulu-Natal (a province in South Africa) through the donation of trauma equipment.

Red Cross aeromedical service, run by Dr Darryl Wood, provides the only rescue helicopter for the region and Prometheus is partnering with Dr Wood to support his work in getting doctors on board rescue helicopters.

“Helicopters bring critical care interventions directly to the patient, be this at the roadside for a motor vehicle collision or a medical emergency at a rural clinic”, said Dr Gunning, “We hope that our donation of our medical bag filled with our trauma products will help to improve the standard of trauma care in the province and save lives.”
