Emergencies in General Practice (GP) Course
Prometheus designed this course in response to GPs’ concerns about managing life-threatening emergencies in the surgery, on a home visit or, by chance, at road traffic collisions – potentially feeling ‘out of depth’ yet wanting to be able to provide effective initial help. The General Medical Council states of doctors, “You must offer help if emergencies arise in clinical settings or in the community, taking account of your own safety, your competence and the availability of other options for care” (General Medical Council, Domain 2, Safety and Quality).
