Prometheus Sponsors The Mongol Derby for the 5th Year
Prometheus is proud to be sponsoring The Mongol Derby for the 5th year, which begins on 4th August 2013 . The Mongol Derby is a 1000km multi-horse race organised by The Adventurists who are “fighting to make the world less boring”.
In the months running up to the event approximately 1000 semi-wild Mongolian horses are gathered to undergo a Derby training programme. During the race there will be a horse station roughly every 40km where all riders will change horse and eat, drink and sleep. There is no designated route for the race but all riders must stop at every horse station spread across the 1000km.
Due to the dangerous and unpredictable nature of the Derby, Prometheus provides on-the-ground medical support for the Derby as well as 24/7 Reachback™ to our team of clinicians in the UK for the duration of the event. This year our medics will be Chris Abbott, a pre-hospital doctor and keen expeditioner, Deb Swann, a senior A&E nurse (one of the medics who supported the Derby last year), and James Hubbard, HART paramedic.
Our medics will be using BGANs during the event so we hope to receive real time updates from them. These updates will be placed on our website and on our Facebook and Twitter pages during the race.
