Prometheus Medical hosts HRH The Duke of Kent to bury time-capsule for 100 years
Visit follows Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation for the ground-breaking development of the Russell Chest Seal®
Prometheus Medical, a leading provider of pre-hospital emergency medical training and equipment, was delighted to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent to its headquarters in Hope-under-Dinmore during his visit to Herefordshire. The visit celebrated the excellent innovations made by businesses in Herefordshire. To commemorate the visit, Prometheus Medical will bury a time-capsule for 100 years, including a signed photograph of The Duke of Kent.
The visit follows the honour of being named a winner of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation, one of the UK’s top business accolades, in 2015. The award was given to Prometheus Medical in recognition of outstanding innovation for the design and development of the Russell Chest Seal®. The hydrogel-based dressing covers penetrating chest wounds to allow air to escape from the pleural cavity without being drawn back in. The aim is to minimise lung collapse associated with major trauma injuries, helping facilitate lung re-inflation and potentially saving a life.
“We are very proud to welcome The Duke of Kent to our beautiful headquarters in Herefordshire. The visit is testament to our team’s tireless efforts to develop medical products that are clever in their simplicity, solve real medical problems and help us achieve our ultimate goal; saving peoples’ lives,” states Dr Malcolm Russell, Chief Executive Officer at Prometheus Medical. “We want to mark the occasion by burying a time-capsule for 100 years, so our colleagues in the future will understand the roots of this company and continue on the path we’re setting of medical innovation.”
