Prometheus Expands into Australia

Dr Malcolm Russell, Managing Director, and Mr Kevin Gallagher, Commercial Director, have recently arrived back to the UK following a countrywide tour of Australia. The visit took place as Prometheus launched its brand new subsidiary company, which is based in Townsville, Queensland. As with Prometheus in the UK, the Australian branch will also be doctor-led.

Dr Jeremy Smith, the Managing Director, is an Emergency Medicine Specialist as well as being a Retrieval Physician working with Careflight Medical Services.

Jeremy has spent several years working with various Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) in the South East of UK, including London HEMS.  He was also one of the first doctors to fly on the Surrey/Sussex HEMS unit when it was set up in 2007.  As with our other doctors, he has previous military experience, deploying operationally with the British Army to Bosnia with 1 Close Support Medical Regiment.  He enjoys expeditionary work and was the lead medic for the Mongol Derby in Mongolia in 2009 and 2010.  He has also deployed to Africa on a consultancy basis to carry out audits and medical planning in several sites, prior to deployment of medical assets.

The new company will offer the same leading supplies of pre-hospital emergency equipment and medical consultancy.  “Since the establishment of Prometheus five years ago, we have grown substantially and now have a diverse spread of satisfied customers nationally and internationally.  Prometheus Australia will allow us to continue to serve our customers’ needs, and to allow strategic growth in both capacity and capability.”
