Milipol Qatar Exhibition 2012
Prometheus Medical Ltd (MENA) attended its first exhibition in the Middle East last week; Milipol Qatar 2012, held in the city of Doha from the 8th – 10th October.
Milipol Qatar is a trade exhibition dedicated to Internal State Security, organised by the Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar since 1996. Every two years Milipol Qatar welcomes to Doha, industry professionals from the Middle East, the Near East and Asia. As a new company based in the Middle East, Prometheus Medical (MENA) were excited to attend Milipol Qatar and were astounded by the reception we received.
Milipol Qatar is essentially a showcase for innovative products and services in the public and industrial security sector, so Prometheus took this opportunity to show the Russell Chest Seal™ and the Prometheus Pelvic Splint. Significant interest was shown in both of these products as well as a number of other products, including the Major Haemorrhage Control Packs and Medical Bags.
The Prometheus team met many existing and new customers throughout the 3 day event, including a number of sector delegates, including those from; Police, Fire Service, Special Op’s, the Ministry of Interior, Ambulance Service and medical companies – all of whom were extremely interested in the science of haemorrhage control and disaster management, which seems to be an area of development for our MENA associates.
We also had visits from specialists from many other countries within the Middle East, but also from Mexico, Columbia, Russia, and Singapore. Support was also forthcoming from the UK Department of Trade and Industry, and other partner agencies in the Middle East. Our meetings with senior delegates from Ambulance, Police and Civil Defence staff were also incredibly useful for the team.
Our products were featured on the Al Jazeera TV channel shown throughout the Middle East, and on the local Qatar TV news. The team also worked with the presenters of the German equivalent of The Gadget Show to film a 5 minute slot explaining the lifesaving technologies that Prometheus can supply.
On the second day of the exhibition, Prometheus were honoured to be given an audience with the Minister of the Interior for Qatar, who allowed the Prometheus team to show him all of our products for both single patient and mass casualty use. The Minister expressed a keen interest in the products and the Prometheus ethos.
Prometheus very much enjoyed this exhibition and the opportunities to better understand the country within which we are based; this was of particular benefit to Managing Director, David Halliwell, who has recently relocated to Qatar to operate Prometheus Medical (MENA).
We are hoping to maintain our links with those who took the opportunity to visit us last week, and would like to thank everyone for their support.
