Jim has worked in Emergency Medicine for over 25 years and was one of the first ED Physicians in the UK to adopt the exciting modality of Point of Care Ultrasound. He has used Ultrasound extensively in practice for over 14 years.
Jim has been Co-chair of the EuSEM Ultrasound Section and also served on the CEM (UK) Ulltrasound Committee. He has directed and taught on almost 50 International Courses and has innovated a number of new courses.
Jim has published and co-authored books on Ultrasound and has recently co—authored a new book due for publication in the fall.
A Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care and Trauma, Mamoun is an operational physician on the reputable Helicopter Emergency Medical Service in South East England (KSS). His training spanned London and Oxford Universities as well as North America. Remarkably, Mamoun completed training in Surgery, Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Emergency Medicine prior to commencing his current role. He has considerable experience collaborating with statutory agencies at mass crowd events and during the London Olympics he was the Consultant designated for treating elite athletes and VIPs at the renowned Royal London Hospital. An inventor, author of multiple scientific papers and international speaker, he was honoured in 2012 with a Diamond Jubilee medal by HM Queen Elizabeth (II) for several years of service to the UK Emergency Services. His current professional/academic interests include retrieval and repatriation of high risk critically ill patients, field sonography as a triage tool and extra-corporeal support.
