UK HEMS Helicopter Crew Course
Specialist training for doctors, paramedics and flight nurses who wish to work within a helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) to provide advanced medical care in the pre-hospital arena.
Aim
The aim of the course is to educate the student to practice as part of a doctor paramedic team delivering the highest level of care to seriously ill and injured patients in the challenging pre-hospital environment.
Entry Criteria
Doctors, state registered paramedics and flight nurses who are working, or who have been selected to work, in a HEMS role. Doctors must be able to provide evidence of at least 6 months of anaesthesia practice.

Course overview
The UK HEMS Helicopter Crew Course provides the clinician with the skills and knowledge to practice within a physician led medical team providing the highest level of clinical care to the seriously ill and injured patients in the challenging pre-hospital environment. The Instructors are all doctors and paramedics currently serving within a HEMS system with vast knowledge and expertise in pre-hospital care. The course consists of lectures and realistic moulages concluding with written and practical assessments.
