Prometheus Technologies has been developed to cater for the ever-expanding need for communications and technology support, building on the success of Prometheus' activities using and delivering the BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) satellite communications system to the medical world.  Prometheus Technologies aims to keep the medical and security industries abreast of and equipped with the latest technological advancements by developing them into system packages that cater for the exacting demands of established and future customers. 

Current technologies being evaluated to stand alongside Prometheus Medical capabilities include:

·     the use of RFID tags for patient tracking, health statistics monitoring and audit trailing.

·     satellite and GPS tracking and tagging for both systems and personnel alike.

·     the use of remote camera systems to provide telemedicine care.

·     the expansion of our current BGAN services to include full-scale remote office networking, via secure satellite link and remote area monitoring, through intelligent CCTV systems that allow their imagery to be sent via satellite

·     other materials engineering technologies, such as the development of new evacuation equipment.

Prometheus Technologies will co-exist alongside Prometheus Medical to provide a unique solutions-based service to Prometheus Medical’s core activities. Prometheus Technologies will develop unique and tailored technology solutions for the medical customer, whilst drawing on the established information and experience base that lies within Prometheus Medical.

Prometheus Technologies provides BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) Satellite Broadband service. Partnered with Inmarsat and fully supported by Thales we are able to draw upon a huge support network, as well as producing and providing our own innovative satellite technology solutions.

Remote Access

BGAN allows us to equip our customers with fast streaming internet-based solutions almost anywhere on the earth’s surface. Supported by a constellation of the most advanced communications satellites in Geo-stationary orbit, we can provide sessions of up to 435kbps. That’s the equivalent to having approximately 10 dial up Internet connections simultaneously delivering your data to anywhere on the internet from almost anywhere on the planet.

Improved Technology

Leave your concept of a Sat Phone behind, unless you’re operating in a Polar Region, the old traditional Sat Phone has been replaced by BGAN as its digital equivalent. The advent of BGAN is analogous to when mobile phone handsets moved from being analogue bulky units, to digital 3G networked personal devices.

If you’re in a party of personnel who all desire remote communications, then BGAN provides a per minute billing solution to access the Internet anywhere on the planet. Easy to Use

Prometheus has trialed BGAN terminals with novice users in urban and mountain environments. The average time for a novice, who has never seen the equipment before to connect to the Internet is less than 4 minutes. In under 4 minutes any user can contact the emergency services, call for medical reachback, (with the potential for full video streaming) upload vital information regarding their whereabouts, conditions etc. or just send their parents an email saying they’re safe and well. BGAN makes the connection; you decide what to send.

Fast

Full HDTV streaming services (using H264 compression) are available to foreign correspondents, journalists, remote workers, or travelling personnel.

Imagine connecting 1, 10, 100 networked computers to a remote terminal and using BGAN as your satellite backhaul to the office. VPN, FTP, secure sessions can all be supported, the only limitations to BGAN are within your mind.
