Prometheus Appoints Research and Development Manager
Prometheus is pleased to introduce our new Research and Development Manager, Dr Richard Lyon.
Richard is a Registrar in Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Care. Born in Luxembourg, he became a volunteer fireman at the age of 15 and developed an early interest in emergency care.
He graduated with Honours from Edinburgh University and completed a unique doctorate thesis on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, working closely with the Scottish Ambulance Service to improve the quality of pre-hospital resuscitation.
Richard’s research interests include pre-hospital resuscitation, therapeutic hypothermia and care. He works closely with HEMS and ambulance services across the UK on a variety of research projects. Richard has worked with the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service in Scotland, London HEMS and Kent, Surrey Sussex HEMS.
Richard’s professional interests include pre-hospital care, event and expedition medicine. He is one of the London 2012 Olympic doctors. Richard is a Captain in the Territorial Army and has taken part in expeditions across the globe, including mountain biking to Camp II on Mt Everest.
Richard will start with Prometheus on the 1st of August, and we look forward to welcoming him to the team.
