Dr Pete Dewing by the LakeTues 9th Aug – The lake. Pete and I met up again this morning after my trip to UB yesterday, and we drove along through more of the beautiful countryside. We slowly made our way up a hill and, having not seen much water for a few days, were suddenly met with the most amazing view of a massive lake, Ugii Noor. We’ve set up camp on the shores of the lake and been for a swim – the water was perfect. Catherine turned up, with her crew, just in time to join in, before heading off to the next horse station for the night. Some of the local kids joined us splashing around and a lot of the riders came down for a swim too. As we’re now halfway round everyone seems pleased to be able to have a bit of a wash and relax for the evening. Pete enjoyed some of the local fish for dinner – sure it was nice to add some variety to the usual meal of mutton from the locals and our own gas-stove cooked variations on pasta with tomato sauce. I’m writing this now watching the sun set over the lake as it turns the swimmers into silhouettes against the sparkling water. A beautiful evening.
