Baseline Maritime Medical Support Course

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This training is intended for seafarers who are designated to provide medical first aid on board ship.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have spent at least 6 months at sea in a merchant vessel and be over 16 years old.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

By the end of training, you will:

• Gain a thorough grounding in medical support in the maritime environment
• Be trained in:
  - Basic Life Support (2005 compliant)
  - The use of Automated External Defibrillators
  - The delivery of oxygen
• Be introduced to both trauma and medical emergencies at sea.
